5 SOCIAL MEDIA MISTAKES THAT ARE KILLING YOUR REACH (AND HOW TO FIX THEM)

Social media algorithms are constantly changing, and what worked yesterday might not work today. If your reach is declining, you might be making these common mistakes. Here’s how to fix them:

1. Posting Inconsistently

Problem: Irregular posting confuses the algorithm, making your content less visible.

Solution: Create a content calendar and stick to a consistent posting schedule. Use scheduling tools (like Buffer or Hootsuite) to maintain consistency.

2. Ignoring Engagement

Problem: Treating social media as a one-way broadcast channel (posting without interacting).

Solution: Reply to comments, engage with followers’ posts, and ask questions to boost interactions. The more engagement your posts get, the wider they’ll reach.

3. Overusing Hashtags (or Using Irrelevant Ones)

Problem: Stuffing captions with 30+ hashtags or using generic ones (#love, #instagood).

Solution: Use 5-10 highly relevant hashtags per post. Research niche hashtags that your audience actually follows.

4. Focusing Only on Promotion

Problem: Constantly pushing sales or self-promotion turns followers off.

Solution: Follow the 80/20 rule—80% valuable content (entertainment, education, inspiration) and 20% promotion.

5. Not Optimizing for Each Platform

Problem:Posting the same content across all platforms without tailoring it.

Solution: Adjust your content format for each platform:
